What a beguiling and completely fascinating movie. This was my second time through, still no closer to deciphering very much, but having an easier time not caring. It's like if David Lynch made a movie in Portuguese, maybe with a shot of Von Trier or something else equally challenging and unforthcoming. First remembered hearing about this as "a very personal remake of I Walked with a Zombie." The two perhaps share a lot of their moodiness, but little else.What I can say for certain is that the look of this film is appropriately bewitching and isolating, and that it is memorable and gripping, for reasons mostly unclear.
